INCINERATOR |

A big well done to NAIL (Nottingham Against
Incineration and Landfill) and a big pat on the back for all the effort in
bringing this whole issue to the attention of the residents of Nottingham. The committee members have shown a dogged determination and fought off a major corporate player in the waste-disposal industry. Campaigner Jon Beresford has broken down the implications of a proposed 250,000-tonne incinerator operating in the heart of the city, enabling the public and the councillors to make up their own minds. Recycling may be a pain sometimes, but if you want to see your grandchildren inherit a cleaner planet that isn't heading for global meltdown, then we should be glad to take the time to recycle. We can't ignore the issue of rubbish any longer. We can't keep burying it out of sight in landfill nor can we, in Nottingham, keep sending it to be incinerated. Please reduce your rubbish, refuse to buy products that are excessively packaged and recycle whatever you can when you go to the supermarket. It's up to us now. We still have a long way to go to bring the public more awareness about the Eastcroft incinerator. The people of Nottingham will fight on. ANNA MORISSEY Holborn Avenue Sneinton |
