| COUNCIL FAILS ON RECYCLING |

I support the Evening Post in pushing to make a
cleaner environment for everyone in Nottingham. However, you should not
start with the public, you should start with the city council. The council has one of the lowest rates for recycling - it has been set a recycling target of 20% which it is not achieving. There are no recycling bins or collection in my area. Also the council wants to include the waste burnt at the Eastcroft incinerator in its 20% target, claiming it is recycling because it powers homes in St Ann's. What about the pollution it creates? Now there are plans to extend the Eastcroft incinerator at a cost of £50m and plans for an incinerator at the old Rufford Colliery site, near Rainworth. Nottingham should be renamed 'Incinerator Town'. I have lived in Nottingham all my life but I don't like what is happening and might consider moving now. DEAN ALLAN Keswick Street, Nottingham |
