19/04/06 Nottingham Evening Post 'Does City Council Treat Anyone With Respect?'
refer to the article headlined "Off sick for 440 years" (Evening Post, April
15).
I could not help thinking that perhaps the reason for such a high number of
sickness and absences at Nottingham City Council could actually be attributed to
the fact that its employees are not treated very well.
In addition, if the council is as supportive as it says it is then it is
unlikely that so many of its staff would be off with stress-related illnesses.
Maybe senior management treat their staff in the same way as they treat the
public.
For example, not turning up to the Eastcroft's incinerator meeting to answer
questions from concerned members of the public.
After all, members of the public are the council's customers!
Perhaps the council is not treating the public or its employees with the respect
they deserve!
